6 Rules Of Photography

Simplicity

I chose this this picture to show "simplicity" because in the examples on the website they had backgrounds that didn't interfere with the background of the photo. In this photo i think that the background is plain and helps the viewer focus on the subject of the photo.

The Rule Of Thirds

I chose this picture to show "The Rule Of Thirds" because on the website it said to imagine your picture in 3 lines going up and down and side to side and try to make sure that the subject is on one of the lines that intersect . For this photo i think the photographer was using "The Rule Of Thirds" when he took the picture because it looks like the fireman would fall on one of the intersecting lines.

Lines

I chose this picture to show "Lines" because on the website it shoes the difference in the way you take pictures and the different angles can really make a difference especially if you're dealing with lines. On the website it says that diagonal lines are more dynamic. Even though theses lines aren't dynamic i think it was still taken at a good angle.

Balanced

I Chose this picture to show "Balanced" because on the website it shows pictures that are more attractive , show geometric shapes, and are actually balanced. In this picture i felt like it was "Balanced" because i feel like the building in the background balances the bigger and closer building. Also i think this picture has a lot of rectangles in it.

Framing

I chose this picture to show "Framing" because on the website it shows different pictures in different spacings, adding depth to the picture. i think the photographer purposely took this picture further way so it could add depth to the photo.

Avoiding Mergers

I chose this picture to shoe "Mergers" because on the website it says that when you take pictures you want to leave space on the edges to give the subject room and make it not look like they are about to run off the picture. In this picture you can see only half of bodies and peoples faces are cut off.

Unusual & Interesting Photos (Part 3)

1. Below each photo are suggestions for photographers. List 3 of the ones you think are the most important for photographers to remember when they are out shooting. Always connect with your subject, never stop looking for the right angel to take a photo,
2. Pick your favorite painting, get a copy of it and post it on your blog.
3. Then go find a REAL photo that looks like your painting. DO NOT GET AN ACTUAL PHOTO OF THAT PAINTING, find a photo that copies the style of the painting, but is NOT the painting.
4. Did the photographer follow the suggestions fully? yes
5. Which style of painting do you think might influence you? I like this one, where your photo makes a difference in what angle you take it in.

Photo Manipulation and Ethics

The main point of the story is when you aren't allowed/supposed to manipulate photos to make something false become true. I think this typer of photo editing is unethical because what you are doing is lying to the public.

Daily News Photo Illustration
I think this picture was unethical because Bush didn't really debate. When this was published it could have cause arguments and problems for the USA.

I think this picture isn't as bad as the others because even though they put the pyramid's closer together they are still somewhat where they are supposed to be.

National Geographic Warm-Up

© Dominique Brand
I like this picture because it shows her covered in this red stuff which is a mixture of ochre, oil and ash to protect herself from the harsh desert climate. I also like this picture because instead of showing or putting perfume on she smokes her self with herbs that she burns in a pot. I like how this picture is different.

Think about your world, what photo would you take to submit to this photo contest? If I had to submit a photo to this contest i would get a group of pictures form around the world showing different cultures and religions and i would make a collage.

Touching People

1. What do you think about this project and photo essay? I think its a smart idea, its different, but its cool.

2. What would you do if someone approached you with a camera and asked you to participate in a photo shoot and then asked you to touch a stranger? I would probably just walk away.

3. Think of an unusual photo shoot similar to this one that you think would be fun to go and shoot. I think it would be fun going to shoot at an airport.

4. Finally, tell me what you thought of the photography, are the photos good? Do you like looking at them? I think the photos are good, they look like the people actually know each other... well some of them do.
